Hot-Hed® Corporate Profile and Company History
Hot-Hed oil tools was established in Houston, Texas in 1981 by Louis J. Wardlaw III, winner of the Petroleum Engineer International 1988 Special Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation, when he invented and patented its signature product - Hot-Hed® - for the oil and gas industries. This revolutionary oil tools invention is a non-toxic, exothermic heater deigned to uniformly raise wellhead and casing temperatures to API standards in 5 to 10 minutes, maintaining them long enough to complete inner and outer welds.
The Hot-Hed Pre-heating/Post-heating System was the starting point for the company to further develop additional innovative oil tools products and to eventually provide support services for those we manufactured, mainly for the domestic market at that time.
Over the next few years, the company launched an aggressive marketing and distribution campaign to introduce its oil tools products and offshore services and equipment rentals to the international petroleum and gas sectors. Utilizing a hand-picked group of established agents in key areas of the globe, this campaign resulted in substantial success for Hot-Hed as a company.
The potential for Hot-Hed's growth was then realized, specifically in the petroleum and gas industries services sector. In 1990, Hot-Hed International S.A was established to manage the company's overseas business. The same year, our first fully-owned subsidiary was opened in Cairo, Egypt, which still provides crucial offshore services and oil tools products to North Africa and the Middle East, in addition to Egypt itself.
The next 5 years saw the establishment of Hot-Hed Nigeria LTD., Hot-Hed De Mexico S.A., P.T. Hot-Hed Indonesia, Hot-Hed Venezuela S.A., Hot-Hed Malaysia SDN BHD and Hot-Hed Qatar.
Today, Hot-Hed offices are located in all significant petroleum and gas sectors of the world. Hot-Hed oil tools products and service engineers can be found in locations from South America to the jungles of Irian Jaya.
The key to Hot-Hed's continual success and growth is our constant development of new, innovative oil tools products and the ongoing development of our catch-phrase - Just a Better Way to do Things.
